IGM Advisers Group has summed up the results of the first wave of the IGM Elevate Internship Program’24 — a unique practical online internship in strategic consulting for Kazakhstan.
Out of 172 applications, 26 interns were selected and formed into 6 teams. Students from Almaty and Astana representing leading universities of Kazakhstan took part, including KIMEP, NARXOZ, Nazarbayev University, SDU and MNU.
Each team worked on real business cases: launching canned low-alcohol beverages (BAKHUS), developing sales of turkey delicacies (Ordabasy Kus), and launching pet food for dogs and cats (KazPetFood). Interns participated in market research and assessment of sales potential, development of hypotheses and proposals to solve the tasks set by the shareholders of IGM Advisers’ client companies.
During the internship, participants surveyed 87 respondents, developed 18 hypotheses, conducted 7 price cuts, prepared 6 SWOT analyses, 5 McKinsey matrices and 3 Porter’s Five Forces analyses — and learned to apply AI tools in research work.
Interns’ work was evaluated by company management, mentors from professional consultants of IGM Advisers, and peer self-assessment within teams.
The best interns entered the final top-10 and received career growth opportunities with IGM Advisers and the companies that kindly provided the cases.
IGM Elevate Internship Program is part of IGM Advisers’ long-term strategy to support the sustainable development of human capital in Central Asian countries by involving a new generation of specialists in real business tasks.
The next intake opens in 2025 — stay tuned for updates!
